Text Box: Investigations are continuing into yesterday's accident in which a four-year-old boy was killed by a falling palm tree at Port Douglas in far north Queensland.
Arborists have examined the 12-metre tree that toppled over in blustery conditions, killing the child and injuring his father as they walked along a busy street in the tourist town.
The findings will be submitted to the coroner in a report.
Detective Senior Constable Leo Lahey says police have also conducted tests.
"Police scientific and scenes of crime officers have done their examinations and taken a number of samples which will be kept as part of the submissions," he said.
The boy's father was released from Mossman Hospital today after being treated for head, back and neck injuries.
The Victorian family had been on holidays in Port Douglas.
